WATCH FILM TRAILERS

1. THE LIVES OF OTHERS

Both a political thriller and human drama, this film is set in East Berlin five years before the fall of the Berlin Wall. It traces the gradual disillusionment of Captain Gerd Wiesler who works for the Stasi, East Germany’s all-powerful secret police. His mission is to spy on a celebrated writer and actress couple.

2. APOCALYPSE NOW

Francis Ford Coppola’s stunning vision of the heart of darkness in all of us. This classic and compelling Vietnam War epic stars Martin Sheen and Marlon Brando among many others.

3. JESUS OF MONTREAL

French Canadian story of a young actor who creates controversy with his portrayal of Jesus in an ensemble version of the Passion Play. Nominated for Best Foreign Film Academy Award!

4. HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE

5. SEARCHING FOR SUGAR MAN

This film follows two South African fans who set out to find out what really happened to their hero. Their investigation led them to a story more extraordinary than any of the existing myths about the artist known as Rodriguez. This is a film about hope, inspiration and the resonating power of music.

6. HIDDEN FIGURES

The incredible untold story of a trio of brilliant African-American women
working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: their story crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.

7. THE LUNCH BOX

Set in India, Ila decides she wants to add some spice to her stale marriage by preparing a special lunch for her neglectful husband. Unfortunately, the delivery goes astray and winds up in the hands of an irritable widower. Thus begins an unusual friendship in which they exchange letters where they talk about their joys and sorrows without ever meeting in person.

8. I DANIEL BLAKE

Daniel Blake (59 year old unemployed-joiner) needs help from the State for the first time in his life. He crosses paths with single mother Katie and her two young children who has been relocated some 300 miles away from her home by social services. Daniel and Katie find themselves in no-man’s land, caught on the barbed wire of welfare bureaucracy as played out against the rhetoric of ‘striver and skiver’ in modern-day Britain.

9. THE EAGLE HUNTRESS

Set against the breathtaking Mongolian steppe, this film features some of the most awe-inspiring cinematography ever captured in a documentary, giving this intimate tale of a young girl’s quest as she trains to become the first female in twelve generations of her Kazakh family to become an eagle hunter.

10. SAND STORM

Set in a Bedouin village in Southern Israel, this is a moving, assured and emotionally complex film about two generations of Arab woman negotiating their identities and desires – at its core a powerful story of resistance and female empowerment.
